🔤 Accents Overview

Portuguese uses five types of accents. Each has a specific purpose.

# Accent Symbol Name Effect on Pronunciation Example ترجمہ (Urdu) Audio
1 ´ á, é, í, ó, ú Acute (agudo) Open/stressed vowel café, fácil کافی، آسان

• Acute (´) — indicates an open stressed vowel (café, fácil).

• Circumflex (^) — indicates a closed stressed vowel (você, avô).

• Tilde (~) — indicates a nasal vowel (mãe, pão).
