❓ Questions & Negatives — In Portuguese, questions can be formed simply by rising intonation (like English), using question words, or adding tag questions at the end. Negatives are formed by placing não before the verb. This lesson covers all question forms, question words, negative structures, and double negatives with pronunciation guides in Urdu and English.

🔊 Click the Listen button next to each example to hear the pronunciation using Text-to-Speech.

💡 Key Rule: In Portuguese, não comes before the verb. Double negatives are common and grammatically correct (e.g., "Não vejo ninguém" = I don't see anyone).

❓ Three Ways to Ask Questions

There are three main ways to ask a question in Portuguese: intonation, question words, and tag questions.

# Method Explanation Example Translation ترجمہ (Urdu) Audio
1 Intonation Rising voice at the end (informal) Você fala português? Do you speak Portuguese? کیا آپ پرتگالی بولتے ہیں؟
2 Question Words Using question words (quem, o que, onde, etc.) Onde você mora? Where do you live? آپ کہاں رہتے ہیں؟
3 Tag Questions Adding "não é?", "né?", etc. at the end Você fala português, não é? You speak Portuguese, don't you? آپ پرتگالی بولتے ہیں، ہے نا؟

📌 Usage:

• Intonation: Casual, spoken Portuguese.

• Question words: Used for specific information.

• Tag questions: Common in Brazil (né? is very common).
