⚡ Irregular (Strong) Verbs & Modal Verbs — German irregular verbs (also called "strong" verbs) change their stem vowel in the present tense for the du and er/sie/es forms. Modal verbs (können, müssen, wollen, etc.) also have irregular conjugations and are used to express ability, necessity, desire, permission, and obligation.

These verbs change their stem vowel in the du and er/sie/es forms. The ich and wir forms usually remain regular.

📌 Pattern: e → i / ie (sehen → siehst, lesen → liest), a → ä (fahren → fährst), e → i (sprechen → sprichst).

📌 Modal Verb Pattern:

Modal verbs in the present tense have no endings in the ich and er/sie/es forms. The du form adds -st, ihr adds -t, and wir/sie/Sie have the infinitive form.
