🔮 Future Tense in German — German has two future tenses: Futur I (simple future) and Futur II (future perfect). Futur I is formed with the present tense of werden + infinitive and is used to express future actions or assumptions. Futur II is formed with werden + past participle + haben/sein and expresses actions that will have been completed by a future point.

🔮 Futur I (Simple Future)

Futur I is formed with the present tense of werden + the infinitive of the main verb. It expresses future actions, predictions, or assumptions.

Futur II is formed with werden + past participle + haben or sein (in the infinitive). It expresses actions that will have been completed by a future time.

For verbs of movement or change of state, use sein instead of haben in Futur II.

Use haben:
• Most verbs (machen, lernen, spielen)

Use sein:
• Verbs of movement (gehen, fahren, kommen)

📌 Present Tense for Future

Ich gehe morgen.

Alternative:
In spoken German, the present tense is often used for future actions when a time adverbial (morgen, nächste Woche, etc.) is present.

Ich fahre morgen nach Berlin.
(I am driving / will drive to Berlin tomorrow.)
