👤 Understanding Pronouns & Possessives — Pronouns are essential for speaking Arabic fluently. Arabic has three types of pronouns: Personal Pronouns (ضمائر منفصلة), Possessive Suffixes (ضمائر متصلة), and Demonstrative Pronouns (أسماء الإشارة). Personal pronouns stand alone, possessive suffixes attach to nouns, and demonstrative pronouns point to specific things.

🔊 Click the Listen button next to each example to hear the pronunciation using Text-to-Speech.

💡 Key Rule: Arabic distinguishes between masculine and feminine forms in the second and third person pronouns. Possessive suffixes are attached directly to the end of nouns.

👤 Personal Pronouns (ضمائر منفصلة)

Personal pronouns stand alone and are used as subjects. They distinguish between masculine and feminine in the second and third person.

📌 Note: Arabic has separate masculine and feminine forms for "you" and "they" in the second and third person. The first person (I/we) does not distinguish gender.

🔗 Possessive Suffixes (ضمائر متصلة)

Possessive suffixes are attached to the end of nouns to show ownership. The example uses كتاب (kitab - book) to demonstrate each suffix.
